E-RTO project: electrification and digitalization of the regenerative thermal oxidizer (rto) for the decarbonization of industry
From Kalfrisa and its R&D department we are participating in the development of a Digital Model focused on the electrification and digitization of the Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO) for the decarbonization of the industry.
The objective of this project is to improve the sustainability of the RTO, optimize and automate its process and operation. In collaboration with ELECTROINGENIUM (Automation Engineering) and nablaDOT (Computational Fluid Engineering) a digital model has been developed consisting of a Thermal Model and a Digital Twin.
Electrification of the RTO is based on a change in the thermal energy source, using electrical resistors instead of fossil fuel burners. The sustainability of the equipment is, in turn, enhanced by better regulation and control of the equipment.
The Aragon Energy Cluster (CLENAR) is coordinating the project and Kalfrisa is developing it in collaboration with ELECTROINGENIUM and nablaDOT. It is financed by the program ‘Agrupación Innovadora (AEI) del Ministerio de Industria, Comercio y Turismo’ with file number AEI-010500-2021b-37.
