Hydrogen, an alternative fuel
One of the EU ‘s most important objectives is to achieve climate neutrality by 2050. As a first step, member states are obliged to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55 % compared to 1990 levels by 2030.
Europe’s commitment to achieving this neutrality is largely based on the use of hydrogen as a fuel. As this is an unlimited resource that can be produced locally in Europe by renewable energy.
Hydrogen as an alternative to fossil fuels makes it possible to decarbonize thermal processes that, due to temperatures, associated gases, corrosion, impact on the process material and scales, are not achievable with other electrification technologies.
At Kalfrisa, in our efforts to replace fossil fuels with hydrogen, we have managed to achieve 100% hydrogen combustion on an industrial scale.
The replacement of fossil fuel with hydrogen is not trivial, but requires a thorough analysis beforehand, due to the change in operating conditions that directly affect how heat is transmitted to the processed material without being affected by the change of fuel.
