Kalfrisa will supply heat recovery equipment for ARCELORMITTAL’s DRI modules – NIPPON STEEL INDIA
Last July, Kalfrisa and AM/NS INDIA reached an agreement for the supply of the first heat recovery for the Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) plant that the Joint Venture between ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel has in Hazira, Gujarat, India;
This plant, formerly ESSAR STEEL, is the third most important of India in volume with a current installed production capacity of 10 million tons of iron per annum (MTPA) and an announced expansion of 5 MTPA over the next 3 years.
Kalfrisa has obtained this order and has the confidence of the customer thanks to the increase of its presence in the Indian market through both a local commercial agent and the first commercial actions in the country.
In April, a team from the Department of Energy visited the Hazira and after several technical-commercial meetings it was agreed that KALFRISA would revise the original designs of the heat recuperators applying all its experience designing and manufacturing this type of equipment for the steel industry.
In recent years, KALFRISA has exponentially increased its presence in the DRI plants market.
Only since 2020, 3 complete heat recovery systems have been sold as well as numerous spare parts, making a total of 76 recuperators in just 3 years.
These heat recovery units are designed and manufactured to the highest quality standards, following both the American ASME such as the European AD-2000-Merkblatt and through the latest software programs available for pressure equipment design.
